Register a .bd domain in Bangladesh

How Nick checks a .bd name, what 2,500 Taka a year covers, and why BTCL still needs an NID or trade license before the name goes live.
A .bd domain is the Bangladesh country-code name. On Nick it is listed first, ahead of .com and the other extensions, and the sell price is 2,500 Taka for one year.
Search the label, not a slogan
Type the name you want, such as dhakabakery, or the full name dhakabakery.bd. Nick asks Alpha Net’s BTCL lookup whether that exact name is free. The page keeps the status only. It does not store the registrant name or email from the whois record.
- Available means the lookup reported the name free, and Nick can show the 2,500 Taka price.
- Taken means the name is already registered.
- Reserved means the registry is holding the name, including some words BTCL will not sell.
- Unknown means the lookup did not return a status Nick can trust. Those names are not added to the cart.
The other Bangladesh extensions
The same search also prices .com.bd, .net.bd, .org.bd, .info.bd, .edu.bd, .id.bd, and .sch.bd at 1,100 Taka a year, .ai.bd at 4,000, .co.bd at 5,000, and .tv.bd at 12,000. Multi-year prices are the yearly price times one, two, three, five, or ten years.
Payment is not activation
Checkout collects the registrant’s name, email, phone, and address, then takes payment through EPS when that gateway is configured. Paying Nick does not finish a .bd registration by itself. BTCL activates the name after the NID or trade license is filed. Until then the order can sit pending even though the name looked available at search.
